It is essential for all powder-coated metals to be cleaned on a regular basis to preserve the finish over the life of the product. Secureview mesh , Xceed perforated aluminium ,Diamond Grille and their framing should be cleaned at frequent intervals as indicated on the chart below .
The aim of the cleaning operation is to remove the grime and in coastal areas ,salt build up that is deposited onto the surface without causing damage to the powder-coated surface. Just as washing your car is essential for removing dirt and grime, your powder-coated security products need to be washed regularly to maintain your Security Doors and Window Screens in pristine condition.
Start by removing any dust and loose deposits using a soft head broom. Once this is completed, use a mild ,”soft” cleaner such as dishwashing liquid or car wash in warm water applied with a sponge or soft brush ( a soft banister brush is ideal ) to thoroughly clean the product. Rinse thoroughly with clean fresh water to remove any detergent/cleaner. The use of a garden hose is ideal. Acidic or alkaline cleaners are not recommended as they can damage the powder-coating.
Definitions of environments
Mild
Being rural and over 20 kms from the coast and remote from industry and urban activity. To be cleaned at 6 monthly intervals
Moderate
Being more than 10kms from the coast, mainly urban and away from heavy industrial activities. To be cleaned at a maximum of 3 month intervals.
Tropical/Severe
Being within 10kms of the coast, urbanised areas where salt and pollutants are likely to build up. To be cleaned on a more regular basis, every 3-4 weeks.
The above schedule is a guide only and in some areas, more frequent cleaning may be needed.
Locking System Maintenance
Beards Security has fitted premium quality locks to your security door. In order to keep this locking system in good working order , we recommend that customers lubricate the central lock and the upper and lower triple lock mechanism regularly using a product called INOX which can be purchased from Beards Security Doors or any good hardware store. Never use a silicone based lubricant.
